History of the United States Post Office in Redmond, Washington
- June 28, 1881, Redmond
Post Office was called Melrose when it opened. The first postmaster was Adam
Tosh.
- December 11, 1882, Luke
M. McRedmond was appointed postmaster. He petitioned for the name change
and was postmaster at the time of the name change on March 19, 1883. The
post office was located at the McRedmond Home/Hotel.
- July 2, 1883, William McRedmond was appointed postmaster of
Redmond.
- 1885, Emma McRedmond,
daughter of Luke McRedmond was named Redmond's first postmistress. The
Seattle, Lakeshore & Eastern Railroad arrived in 1885. Before that the
mail was delivered on the wagon road around the north of Lake Washington.
Logging and milling were the main industries of Redmond.

- Feb 18, 1902, William A. Faulds, appointed
- Henry A. Templeton
- 1912, Fred A. Reil was the
postmaster. The post office was located
in the Redmond Trading Company, a general store which Fred A. Reil was a
trustee. Fred A. Reil was the first mayor of Redmond in 1912.

Postmaster appointments were by political appointment until August 1959,
when Postmaster positions became awarded by Civil Service.
